PERSATUAN TENAGA LESTARI SABAH (REASabah)
The Renewable Energy Association of Sabah or REASabah was registered with the Registrar of Societies on 7 March 2014 and was officially launched by the Minister in Kota Kinabalu on 28 March 2014. Membership in the association is open to those in Sabah's renewable energy industry or anyone with a keen interest in this field.
REASabah aims to be a platform allowing interaction between industry stakeholders, including renewable energy developers, government agencies, institutions of higher learning and renewable energy technology providers. Such interaction will greatly benefit the industry and government in the formulation of policies, guidelines and legislation beneficial to all related parties in Sabah.
With much current global emphasis on climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, security of supply of conventional fuels and energy security, there have been significant moves, both by governments and the private sector to focus on the benefits of renewable energy.
In Malaysia, Sabah is endowed with an abundance and variety of renewable energy sources such as biomass, biogas, geothermal, hydro and solar. Currently, it has the largest amount of grid-connected power from renewable sources in Malaysia.
